A taste of the Camargue in Catalonia
This Mediterranean coastal wetland is home to a host of birds in all seasons. Its location is ideal for migratory stopovers, as is its diversity of environments : flooded meadows, marshes, ponds, rivers (Muga and Fluvià) as well as the beach and the sea - it's the perfect place for our feathered friends of all species ! The site is protected and listed as a "Ramsar site" : a wetland of international importance, included on the list drawn up by the Ramsar Convention, by a State Party. It is located in the Alt Empordà region of Catalonia.
This marvellous place also covers several walking routes so that you can discover the nature park without difficulty. Various observatories are open to all nature lovers, whether photographers or simply observers. You can see horses, different species of birds such as the White stork and the Grey heron, European fallow deer and Nutria. It is the second most important wetland in Catalonia, just after the Ebro Delta wetland.
